Concerns about lack of adulting skills, preoccupation with social media, and higher rates of anxiety and depression are common refrains used to describe this generation of young adults and adolescents. In Season 2, Episode 12 of \u201cUncommon Voices, Uncommon Visions,\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/drvalerienyberg.us20.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=0beb2bb014d40f34ef1678079&amp;id=2d9b4c128b&amp;e=6d375097db\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/drvalerienyberg.us20.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=0beb2bb014d40f34ef1678079&amp;id=f5713c46a3&amp;e=6d375097db\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Buzzsprout<\/a>) my youngest son, Jacob, and I sit down to discuss addiction, focusing specifically on gaming, social media, and marijuana and the impacts that these elements have had on his teen years. As a college junior, Jacob continues to struggle with how to balance his responsibilities and his urge for instant gratification that gaming and social media provide. We talk about how parents and educators can help teens navigate the various pitfalls that smart phones and easy access to nicotine and other substances can threaten to derail teens\u2019 health and well-being.
